St augustine grass is the most commonly installed turfgrass throughout Jacksonville and St. Augustine Florida because it has adapted to the warm humid region and can grow in a variety of soil conditions. Due to its surface growth habitat it has low tolerance to foot and vehicle traffic. St augustine grass also goes dormant in the winter and will turn brown in color until spring. St augustine grass requires a strict watering and fertilization regimen in order to sustain a green and full lawn.  St. augustine grass is also susceptible to several disease and insects.  It is important to establish a proactive regimen of insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides in order to sustain your lawn.  The best method of natural resistance is proper maintenance including watering and fertilization.
